Dr. Naomi Calloway
Assistant Professor of Biology
Naomi Calloway joined the Department of Biology at Baylor University as a tenure-track Assistant Professor in 2026. Her lab studies how freshwater fish and amphibian populations adapt, physiologically and genetically, to rapid changes in temperature and hydrology.
She earned her Ph.D. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, followed by postdoctoral research combining fieldwork in the Brazos River watershed with genomic sequencing and quantitative modeling. Her work bridges organismal physiology, population genomics, and conservation practice.
At Baylor, she is building a research program centered on Central Texas waterways, training graduate and undergraduate researchers, and collaborating with regional agencies on freshwater conservation.
