Scouting field sites along the Brazos
First scouting trips identify long-term monitoring sites for stream fish and amphibian sampling.
Ahead of the fall field season, the lab spent two weeks scouting tributaries of the Brazos River watershed for long-term monitoring sites. Priorities included accessibility across flood and drought conditions, historical population records, and existing partnerships with regional conservation agencies.
Four candidate sites were shortlisted, each spanning a different point along the hydrological disturbance gradient the lab plans to study. Baseline sampling begins this fall.
